Realtor.com’s monthly housing report — based on information posted on brokers listing services — found the priciest big housing markets in California in September …

1. San Francisco — $635,000 median selling price; down 8.63% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 5,516 — down 20.78% in a year. Median time on market of 66 days; down 2.94% in a year.
2. Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-Lompoc — $549,000 median selling price; down 8.35% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 1,942 — down 17.20% in a year. Median time on market of 95 days; up 2.15% in a year.
3. San Jose — $492,750 median selling price; up 3.74% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 5,539 — down 27.29% in a year. Median time on market of 70 days; down 1.41% in a year.
4. Orange County — $446,000 median selling price; down 6.11% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 15,208 — down 15.27% in a year. Median time on market of 91 days; up 7.06% in a year.
5. Ventura — $409,000 median selling price; down 9.09% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 4,100 — down 19.07% in a year. Median time on market of 87 days; up 1.16% in a year.
6. San Diego — $360,000 median selling price; down 4.00% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 14,531 — down 18.34% in a year. Median time on market of 78 days; flat in a year.
7. Oakland — $340,000 median selling price; up 6.25% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 7,338 — down 37.58% in a year. Median time on market of 49 days; down 7.55% in a year.
8. Los Angeles — $335,000 median selling price; down 6.94% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 32,587 — down 20.28% in a year. Median time on market of 73 days; down 6.41% in a year.
9. Sacramento — $210,000 median selling price; down 8.30% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 10,800 — down 23.65% in a year. Median time on market of 72 days; down 5.26% in a year.
10. Riverside-San Bernardino — $195,000 median selling price; up 0.52% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 27,656 — down 23.28% in a year. Median time on market of 75 days; down 7.41% in a year.
11. Stockton-Lodi — $168,000 median selling price; down 1.12% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 3,056 — down 27.41% in a year. Median time on market of 64 days; down 7.25% in a year.
12. Fresno — $159,900 median selling price; down 0.03% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 3,725 — down 33.76% in a year. Median time on market of 59 days; down 18.06% in a year.
13. Bakersfield — $140,000 median selling price; up 0.72% in a year. Homes listed for sale was 3,118 — down 36.75% in a year. Median time on market of 68 days; down 4.23% in a year.

Nationally, sellers raised asking prices 1.60% to $190,000 in a year. There were 2,193,170 homes listed for sale — down 20.09% in a year. Those homes for sale had a median days on market of 107 — flat vs. a year earlier.
