Sales of new, single-family houses declined 1 percent in June compared with May, but rose 1.6 percent compared with June 2010, the U.S. Census Bureau and HUD reported yesterday.

The median sales price of new houses sold in June 2011 was $235,200; the average sales price was $269,000. The seasonally adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of June was 164,000 units, representing a 6.3-month supply at the current sales rate.
