Program Description
The Department of Energy, Weatherization Assistance Program (DOE WAP) has long served as the core program for delivering energy conservation services to low-income Californians. The Weatherization Assistance Program reduces the heating and cooling costs for low-income families by improving the energy efficiency of their homes and ensuring their health and safety. Among low-income households, the program focuses on those with elderly residents, individuals with disabilities, and families with children.

General Program Requirements

In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the state of California who needs financial assistance for home energy costs.

In order to qualify, you also must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

*For households with more than eight people, add $1,416 per additional person.

If you receive Supplemental Security Income or Aid to Families with Dependent Children, you are automatically eligible to receive weatherization services.
